ALD Automotive assists NCP with move to electric vans

The new three-year agreement builds on an existing partnership between the two companies that dates back to 2013 and supports ALD Automotive’s ongoing commitment to promoting Alternatively Fuelled Vehicles (AFVs) as credible options for fleets.

As one of the UK's largest vehicle leasing companies, ALD Automotive has been increasing its work with supporting AFVs, and the addition of the trio of e-NV200s into the NCP London fleet reinforces the company’s commitment to exploring environmentally friendly alternatives to traditional fleet vehicles for its customers.

The three e-NV200 vans have already been put into use by NCP for car park maintenance alongside the current diesel vans on the fleet. The new vehicles are being used in the London Congestion Charge zone and are set to bring significant savings for NCP thanks to their exemption from the Congestion Charge as well as annual road tax. NCP is also set to benefit from reduced running costs.

Charging the e-NV200s is no problem either. The three vans have been supplied in Acenta Rapid Plus trim, which includes fast charging capability and enables NCP to use the various charging options located around the Capital, providing added flexibility.

The all-electric vans also play an important part in NCP’s eco credentials. As a socially and ethically responsible business, NCP secured 100% of their electricity from green sources in 2010. Thanks to the use of this green electricity, the NCP e-NV200s will be amongst the UK's most environmentally friendly vehicles.

“It was beneficial for us to take Electric Vans to run on our fleet for many different reasons” said fleet manager Efosa Uhunmwangho. “Not only have we been able to reduce fleet costs, but also our CO2 emissions. ALD have helped us sourcing the vans, but also supplying public charge cards & offering advice and support on driver training. I have no doubt we will be looking to introduce more electric vans in other areas of our business in the future.”

Mel Dawson, managing director of ALD Automotive, said: “This three-year agreement between ALD and NCP reinforces their confidence in our ability to deliver a fully outsourced fleet management solution.

“As fleets progressively move to AFVs, it’s our role to pre-empt their every need, from assisting with installation of home and business chargers to acquiring the necessary charge cards for the region and even training drivers, in order to ensure their requirements are fully catered for.”
