Cadillac ELR E-REV coupe confirmed for production
The ELR was unveiled last summer, and is based on the Converj concept shown in 2009. It uses the same T-shaped lithium ion battery, dual electric motor and petrol range extender. The manufacturer has yet to reveal production location, suggesting it could be built in China, the first market to get the car.
China will also be home to the new XTS luxury sedan, which will be manufactured and sold by Shanghai GM. This will go on sale in China in the fourth quarter of 2012.
‘China has quickly become the fastest-growing market for Cadillac. Last year, sales rose by 73 percent,’ said Akerson. ‘Introducing the XTS is part of our strategy of adding one new model per year to our Cadillac lineup in China through 2016 to address the needs of luxury car buyers nationwide.’
