City of Montreal signs electric vehicle deal for municipal fleet

The deal was signed by Denis Coderre, Mayor of Montreal, Denis Coderre, with the firm Cité Nissan Gabriel SEC

Mr Coderre said: “This agreement reflects the commitment of our Administration to develop the electric vehicle sector. We move from words to actions by example; electrification of part of the municipal vehicle fleet is one of the pillars of the electrification of transport strategy of the City of Montreal. The purchase of electric vehicles is a step towards achieving our goal of 30% reduction by 2020, emissions of greenhouse gases compared to 1990.”

The city’s strategy for transportation electrification of the City of Montreal also includes plans to establish a network of 1,000 street recharging points by 2020 as well as an EV car sharing scheme run by private firms, as announced last May.
