e-Golf land-train deployed for Volkswagen factory tours

Each year, 200,000 guests are given 45-60 minute tours of the 2.3 square-mile facility, which means the land train offers a significant CO2 saving over a conventionally-powered alternative. The tractor is based on a roadgoing e-Golf but features a modified ECU for the weight of the trailer.

Stephan Grühsem, Head of Corporate Communications, Public Affairs and investor relations, said: "Our visitor tours are, for many people, the first contact with companies and brand – and thus an important calling card. The fact that we’re making the care of visitors sustainable shows that electric mobility has arrived at the core of the business."
