Energy Saving Trust reveals results of transport reviews in Scotland

Since the 1st April 2014, 350 Scottish businesses have received advice from the Transport Scotland-funded organisation, with more than 100 completing transport reviews in that time. The latter offers free insight into where participants can make their transport infrastructure more environmentally sustainable.

Existing participants include social enterprise The Wise Group, which has saved £8,000 and 13 tonnes of CO2 output since it implemented the Energy Saving Trust’s recommendations, through introducing more fuel-efficient vehicles, hybrids and electric models, and FuelGood driver training for staff.

The Trust said its reviews to date could lead to a combined 8,000-tonne annual reduction in CO2, while reducing operating costs by £4m.

Stephen Rennie, transport programme manager for the Energy Saving Trust, said: ‘More than half of the businesses have taken action to improve their transport operations since receiving support from the Energy Saving Trust. Of those, 90% say they are happy with the results.

‘A free online Fleet Health Check can help businesses determine their carbon footprint and offers recommendations to help you take the first steps towards greening your fleet and saving money.’
