Jersey Post has deployed a fleet of 15 Nissan e-NV200 delivery vans for use across the island, following an 18-month trial.

The vans are the first electric vehicles used by Jersey Post.

Bought outright and supplied by local dealer, Freelance Nissan, the newcomers join a fleet of 100 vehicles and are claimed to offer a carbon footprint reduction of 35 tonnes a year.

Jersey Post said the e-NV200’s five-year, 100,000 mile warranty, 4.2 square metre load capacity and 703kg payload all contributed to its appeal, as well as its ability to operate with low noise and efficiently within start-stop routes.

Andy Jehan, director of operations at Jersey Post, said: “The value is exceptional too, our decision to switch being ultimately based on the financial projections we have made on whole life costs. If our projections prove accurate, then there’s no reason why many more of our vehicles shouldn’t be electric.”
