Peugeot Announces Diesel Hybrid 508

By / 13 years ago / International News / No Comments

Higher and wider than the SW on which it is based, the 508 RXH has a 2.0-litre HDi engine powering the front wheels and electric motor at the rear. It means a power output of 200bhp with 332lb-ft torque and the option to run in a four wheel drive mode when the terrain gets rough.

But that high performance is countered with equally high fuel economy, thanks  a 100% electric mode for inner-city driving. As a result, it returns 67.2mpg on the combined cycle, emitting 109g/km CO2.

It’s not short on spec, either, fitted with keyless entry, electric front seats, 18in wheels, a panoramic glass roof and an advanced audio and satellite navigation unit.

The 508 RXH gets its world premiere at the Frankfurt International Motor Show in September, before going on sale in Spring 2012. Prices have yet to be announced.
