Peugeot Unveils Plug-In Hybrid MPV

By / 13 years ago / International News / No Comments

Like the 508 and outgoing 3008 HYbrid4, it uses a parallel hybrid setup with a 2.2 HDi engine powering the front wheels and electric motor powering the rear. This gives it up to 299bhp and four-wheel drive when both powerplants are working together, and a combination of modes which allow either to work individually.

Unlike the 508, the HX1 also has the ability to be recharged from a mains power supply. This gives it an 18.6 mile all-electric range and combined fuel economy figure of 88.2mpg, with CO2 emissions of 83g/km.

But it’s not only the drivetrain that’s been designed to save fuel. The bodyshell is designed to be incredibly aerodynamic, with cooling air flaps that close at high speeds, and at 1,373mm tall it has a roofline that’s only 21mm higher than the RCZ coupe.

Passengers can get in and out through gull-wing front and rear doors, and there’s no B pillar to restrict access. Inside, there’s space for six adults with plush leather, marbe and wood trim giving a feeling of luxury.
