Question Time debate to focus on ultra low carbon vehicles at LCV2013

Taking place on 5th September 2013 at Millbrook Proving Ground in the UK, LCV2013, the UK’s low carbon vehicle event, is run by Cenex, which is partnering with Fleet World for a “Question Time” session.

The session will see an expert panel answer pre-submitted questions from fleet managers about ultra-low carbon vehicles. The audience will then actively contribute to the direction of the debate in true “Dimbleby” style, with Ross Durkin, managing editor of Fleet World, giving his best impersonation of David Dimbleby to chair the session.

Cenex and Fleet World have assembled an expert panel who have experience concerning the introduction of electric, hybrid, gas and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles into fleet operations. The expert panel will answer questions from fleet managers related to battery electric, hybrid, gas and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles; as well as questions related to cars, vans and trucks.

Fleet managers are encouraged to register to attend LCV2013 free of charge by 30th August 2013. Questions can be submitted at http://www.cenex-lcv.co.uk/low-carbon-vehicle-fleet-technology-expert-panel.asp.

Cenex will collate all submissions and select a broad set of candidate questions to be answered by the panel. Fleet managers will then be invited to personally pose their question to the panel on the day.

Commenting on the new “Question Time” session, Robert Evans, CEO of Cenex said: ‘Fleet managers are an incredibly important cohort within the UK low carbon vehicle community. They are the first adopters of new technology and at the vanguard when it comes to validating the business models, notably for gas and electric vehicles.

‘We are really looking forward to what we believe will be a very interesting session for all those involved in fleets. The “Question Time” format will allow our experts to provide in-depth answers from contrasting perspectives, whilst the audience will be able to make their own comments and contributions. We are hoping to have a large number of fleet managers in attendance and that low carbon vehicle technology developers will also join in the session to actively contribute.’

Ross Durkin, managing editor of Fleet World, commented: ‘We are pleased to be working with Cenex for a second year and we see the Expert Panel Question Time as a hugely valuable exercise. The combination of the expert panel and the expertise of those professional fleet managers in the audience will help answer some of the continuous questions we receive from our readers about the new low carbon vehicle technologies. We see this as an invaluable opportunity to set an agenda for the technical editorial of Fleet World magazines for the year ahead.’

The Expert Panel currently comprises of:

  • Chris Chandler, LEX Autolease
  • Andy Eastlake, LowCVP
  • Martin Flach, Iveco
  • Bob Moran, OLEV
  • Peter Harris, UPS
  • Chris Walsh, Cenex

Additional members are being recruited.
