Renault has demonstrated dynamic wireless electric vehicle charging on two Kangoo Z.E. vehicles.

Dynamic charging demonstration

The dynamic charging demonstrations took place at the 100-metre test track, built by Vedecom at Satory, Versailles, near Paris.

Carried out in partnership with Qualcomm Technologies and Vedecom at a test-track near Paris, the demo showed how both vehicles can receive a charge of up to 20 kilowatts at speeds up to, and in excess of, 62mph (100kmh).

The trial forms parts of the €9m FABRIC project, partly-funded by the European Union, which addresses the technological feasibility, economic viability, and socio-environmental sustainability of wireless dynamic electric vehicle charging (DEVC).

Eric Feunteun, electric vehicle program director, Groupe Renault, said: “We see dynamic charging as a great vision to further enhance the ease of use of EVs, and the accessibility of EVs for all.”
