Developed in association with experts from the automotive industry, the scheme includes three levels to meet the needs of different personnel, each with their own exam questions to assess the required knowledge. The courses and its exams are completed online, and certification lasts three years.

SAE said the scheme is aimed at giving employees a transferrable qualification, as well as allowing employers to ensure their staff are properly accredited before working on new technology.
