The company, based in Edgware Road, recently added 20 BYD e6 electric minicabs on its fleet which are charged overnight using two-hour rapid charging equipment at its headquarters.

Kabbee, which has 400,000 users  and works with 70 fleets across London, allows users to select a hybrid and electric models via the app’s green selection.  Thriev’s fleet brings the share of green minicabs to 10%.

Justin Peters, Kabbee’s Founder and CEO, said the feature is growing in popularity: ‘We’ve experienced a tenfold increase in ‘green’ minicab bookings just in the last six months, which is great, and because they can often cost less than regular minicabs, we expect to see this figure increase further.’

Thriev CEO, Arvind Vij, added: ‘Londoners are busy, and getting around is very rarely considered in the interest of the environment.  In the short term, this is a great way to encourage people that may have not considered using an electric vehicle, to give them a go, and in the long run, this partnership will contribute to substantially reducing all passengers’ carbon footprint.’
