Toyota reduces prices for new Prius Plug-in

By / 5 months ago / UK News / No Comments

Toyota has reduced prices for its new Prius Plug-in, meaning the all-new model costs less than its predecessor.

New Toyota Prius Plug-in

The second-generation Prius Plug-in features Toyota’s first Dual Motor EV Drive system, increasing EV power by around 83%.

Since order books opened for the new model a week ago, Toyota has brought down the price of both the Business Edition Plus and Excel models by £3,200 from £34,895 and £37,095 to £31,695 and £33,895 respectively.

With the vehicle also qualifying for the plug-in car grant, which provides £2,500 towards the vehicle purchase cost, the new range is now available to customers from just £29,195 – more than £2,000 less than the cost of the previous Prius Plug-in.

Developed on the same Toyota New Global Architecture platform as the standard, full hybrid Prius, the second-generation Prius Plug-in features Toyota’s first Dual Motor EV Drive system, increasing EV power by around 83%. It also brings a larger, higher capacity lithium-ion hybrid battery, giving increased EV driving range.

Other technological breakthroughs include a Battery Warming system to minimise the impact of cold weather on the EV driving range, plus two world firsts: an optional EV range-extending solar roof and gas-injection heat pump air conditioning.

The new Prius Plug-in is available to order now, with deliveries starting from 1 March.
