Toyota Smartens Up Home Charging

The H2V Manager, which will be unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show later this month, connects to a home network via a wired or wireless link, giving users remote access and the ability to adjust charge start times and check power consumption via a home PC, television or smartphone.

It also features a cut-off switch, which interrupts charging during spikes in electrical load, designed to stop circuit breakers kicking in when the house goes over its available voltage.

The unit will be available alongside three household charger options, comprising standard, wall and pole-mounted versions. Toyota said the suggested retail price for the H2V Manager will be 157,500 Yen (£1,285).
