Two new quick chargers join North East England electric vehicle project

By / 12 years ago / International News / No Comments

The posts, which can recharge a battery to 80% capacity in around 30 minutes, are located at Belmont Park and Ride in Durham and Cablecom Training in Stockton and join a network of 400 charging points managed by Charge Your Car, including 26 fast chargers.

Locations were chosen to complete a region-wide network, making long-distance electric vehicle travel easier, and the project offers pay-as-you-go access for non-members.

Josey Wardle, project manager for Charge your Car, said: ‘The two new sites help to plug a gap in the network in the south of the region, and plans to introduce even more quick charging points over the coming months will broaden the scope and flexibility of EV driving even further.

‘It is proven that the installation of quick charging points instills confidence in buying and driving electric vehicles. It is no coincidence that the North East has the highest number of EV drivers, coupled with the most advanced network of quick charging points anywhere in the UK.’
