Ecotricity tariff includes 1,000 free EV miles

By / 10 years ago / International News / No Comments

The Green Electricity + Car tariff offers 100% renewably-sourced energy with a discount equivalent to 1,000 miles of driving in an electric vehicle, as well as access to Ecotricity’s Electric Highway, a network of AC and DC rapid chargers located at motorway service stations and Ikea stores throughout the UK.

Dale Vince, founder of Ecotricity, said: ‘To get the greatest environmental benefit from an electric car, it needs to be charged using 100% green electricity from the wind and the sun – otherwise you’re still powering it from dirty fossil fuels.

‘Ecotricity’s new tariff ensures customers with electric cars are recharging at home with green energy and as a bonus they’ll get at least 1,000 free miles worth of electricity.’

The launch is timed to coincide with the launch of the Volkswagen e-up! electric city car, and Ecotricity has become the official energy supplier for the carmaker, as well as Audi, SEAT and Skoda in the UK. Buyers of the brands’ plug-in vehicles will be offered the new tariff, and a free smart meter installation.
