Smart’s new EQ range is now on sale in the UK, priced from £16,850 including the Plug-in Car Grant.

The new Smart EQ range is available in Fortwo Coupé, Fortwo Cabrio and Forfour bodystyles

The range – comprising the Fortwo Coupe and Cabrio and Forfour – uses the latest generation of the Smart Electric Drive, featuring an 82hp electric motor powering the rear wheels via a single-speed gearbox, and bringing a range of around 70 miles and electronically limited top speed of 81mph.

The 96-cell lithium-ion battery comes with a 22kW onboard charger as standard, enabling a 10-80% charge in less than 40 minutes using a rapid charger, and can be charged in less than six hours using a home wall box.

Four trims are offered: passion advanced, pulse premium, prime exclusive and the edition 1. Standard specification on all models includes multifunction leather steering wheel, rear parking sensors, smart media system – comprising navigation, 7-inch touchscreen, charging station finder, Bluetooth, automatic climate control, DAB, Android Auto and Mirrorlink – and comfort package.

Entry pricing starts at £16,850 for the Fortwo Coupé while the Forfour is priced from £17,285 and the Fortwo Cabriolet starts at £20,420 (all prices include the Plug-in Car Grant). First customer deliveries are due from March 2020.
