The cars are the latest investment in green technology for RCS, which recently installed solar panels on its roof among measures to help cut energy usage. As a result, the company said it had cut its monthly fuel bills by 65%, from £11,000 to £3,500, and could charge the LEAFs for free.

Staff will be given access for a small salary sacrifice each month, and because the LEAF attracts no Benefit in Kind taxation it allows free mobility as a perk to staff. RCS has also become the first private company to install an ABB rapid charger at its headquarters, offering an 80% battery charge in under 30 minutes.

‘The environment forms a key part of our company ethos and our fleet of Nissan LEAFs build on our vision of becoming the UK’s most environmentally friendly printer,’ explained Todd. ‘The LEAF is the first practical five door, five seat EV on the UK market and our staff have embraced all aspects of the car which is why we kept adding them to our fleet.

‘There is no question the financial benefits are a bonus, but gaining the coveted ISO 14001 environmental standard and FSC® (Forestry Stewardship Council®) status – which means all paper we use can be traced back to its source – shows we live and breathe the environment at RCS,’ he added.
