Mercedes expands EQA electric crossover line-up with high-power AWD versions

Mercedes’ new EQA electric crossover is now available in high-power all-wheel drive versions, expanding the family further.

The EQA is now available in 300 4Matic and 350 4Matic variants

Based on the GLA, the EQA launched in February as the smallest model in the carmaker’s EV line-up, sitting under the EQC and the EQV MPV.

Initially available in a £43,495 EQA 250 model with 190hp and 375Nm of torque, the EQA is now offered in 300 4Matic and 350 4Matic variants.

Both use a dual-motor all-wheel drive set-up; the 300 4Matic has 228hp and 390Nm of torque, giving a 0-62mph time of 7.7 seconds, while the 350 4Matic has 292hp and 520Nm of torque, along with a 0-62mph time of 6.0 seconds. The duo have a top speed of 99mph.

The newcomers feature a 66.5kWh battery, giving a range of up 264 miles, depending on equipment level. Charging can be carried out at up to 100kW DC, giving a 10-80% charge in 30 minutes.

Three trim levels are available: AMG Line, AMG Line Premium and AMG Line Premium Plus. Prices range from £48,495 to £54,495 for the 300 4Matic and £49,995 to £55,995 for the 350 4 Matic.

The two models also get access as standard to the Mercedes me Charge programme for three years, including discounted Ionity rapid-charging for one year.

The AMG Line model brings bespoke bodystyling, 18-inch AMG five-spoke light-alloy wheels, black panel radiator grille with twin-blade design in chrome and illuminated door sills with ‘EQA’ lettering.

The AMG Line Premium model line is a £3,000 step up and includes 19-inch AMG five-twin-spoke alloy wheels, electrically-operated panoramic glass sunroof, Keyless-Go Comfort package, augmented reality navigation system, advanced sound system and wireless charging for compatible smartphones.

Rising to the Premium Plus package costs an additional £6,000 and adds in 20-inch AMG multi-spoke alloy wheels’ Parking package with 360-degree camera, electrically adjustable damping suspension with speed-sensitive steering, Burmester Surround Sound System, electrically adjustable front seats with memory function, head-up display and MBUX Interior Assistant with gesture control.

First deliveries start from summer 2021.
