The model will be produced at Nissan's plant in Barcelona, Spain from mid-2014 and will be available in both passenger car and commercial vehicle bodystyles.

Nissan is already working on specific fleet trials of the model and is currently in discussions with the government of the city of Yokohama, its hometown in Japan, on the vehicle’s possible use for the city’s public services vehicles and the establishment of a vehicle monitor user programme, which would be available to all city residents.

The vehicle may also be used as part of the existing "Yokohama Mobility Project Zero” programme between Nissan and the city of Yokohama.

Meanwhile the city of Barcelona in Spain is also looking to use the e-NV200 for smart transportation, such as for taxis, and is working on installing a quick charger network and dedicated EV parking areas to support the taxis.

Based on the NV200, the model uses LEAF’s powertrain and is said to offer excellent acceleration and quiet operation although no technical details have been released. It also offers practical features such as power supply function in the luggage area for outdoor activities or emergency power and a telematics system.

Nissan also says the e-NV200 has the lowest operating costs in the commercial vehicle segment.
