Nissan to install fast chargers at US dealerships

By / 11 years ago / International News / No Comments

Supplied and installed by the carmaker's charging partner AeroVironment, the units will use the CHAdeMO charging standard, offering an 80% charge in 30 minutes for LEAF owners.

To date, Nissan has conducted trials primarily on the east coast of the United States. A network of 24 fast chargers is already in place covering San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Sacramento and Seattle, averaging 4.5 charging sessions per day and growing.

By the start of April 2014, the network will have been extended to 21 markets across the United States.

Brendan Jones, director of electric vehicle infrastructure strategy at Nissan, said: 'Nissan is undertaking a proactive, multi-pronged approach to expand charging infrastructure to enhance awareness of electric cars like the LEAF and instill range confidence in potential customers. We know that available charging infrastructure opens the doors for more Nissan LEAF sales.'
