Peugeot to preview future EVs with Inception concept

Peugeot is to reveal a new concept car in the coming weeks, giving an insight into its forthcoming line-up of dedicated electric vehicles.

The concept will “show the quantum leap the brand is soon to make in focusing on a dedicated 100% electric product offer”

The plans were revealed at the Paris Motor Show by CEO Linda Jackson, who said the concept will “show the quantum leap the brand is soon to make in focusing on a dedicated 100% electric product offer”.

Peugeot already offers the e-208 and the e-2008 and is pushing ahead with rapid electrification of its range – Jackson said 2023 will be an ‘electric year’ for the carmaker when it will offer an electrified version of every model. Full hybrid technology will be introduced across the range, starting with the 3008 and 5008 models, while the plug-in hybrid 408 will also arrive.

Peugeot will also launch five full electric models within the next two years, including fully electric versions of the new 308 and 308 SW, due next year along with a higher-power and longer-range e-208. This will ensure it has a 100% electric offer for all models in 2025.

The next generation of ‘e-Native’ vehicles will build on this, based on new platforms designed for pure electric vehicles.

The brand said its new concept will use next-generation electric-native platforms to “re-invent the whole automobile experience”. The interior space will be overhauled, including its i-Cockpit system.

The Inception concept will also revolutionise the Peugeot design language while further enhancing its “feline posture and three-claw light signatures” and embodying the brand’s core values of ‘Allure, Emotion and Excellence’.

Jackson continued: “This is what will be demonstrated by the Peugeot Inception Concept that we will reveal in the weeks to come. Its name says it all: the Peugeot Inception concept will open the new 100% electric era for the Peugeot brand with a promise: as early as 2030, 100% of the Peugeot models sold in Europe will be 100% electric.”
