Toyota Yaris Cross hybrid SUV: Prices and specs revealed

By / 3 years ago / UK News / No Comments

Toyota’s new hybrid-only Yaris Cross small SUV is to go on sale later this spring, priced from £22,515.

The new Toyota Yaris Cross

It’s built on the same GA-B small car platform and with the same fourth-gen petrol-hybrid technology as the new Yaris but is a standalone model developed to combine the “high-riding qualities of an SUV, but on a scale tailored to suit urban areas”.

Trim line-up will cover four core grades plus an exclusive Premiere Edition version that will be available for one year only.

The entry-level Icon features equipment including 16-inch alloys, Toyota Touch 2 multimedia system with eight-inch touchscreen, DAB, Bluetooth and six-speaker audio system, smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, smart entry and push-button start, reversing camera, auto air con, 2-inch multi-information display, electric windows plus auto headlights and wipers.

Next up is the Yaris Cross Design, priced from £24,140. This adds in 17-inch alloys, LED projector headlights, rear lights and sequential indicators, Aluminium roof rails, black headlining, seven-inch multi-information display, light blue ambient cabin lighting and rear privacy glass.

The Yaris Cross Excel sits above this, priced from £26,745, and adds in 18-inch alloys, power tailgate with kick sensor, nine-inch Toyota Smart Connect multimedia system, intelligent parking sensors with clearance sonar and automatic braking, dual-zone air con, door mirrors with auto-retracting function, power lumbar adjustment on driver’s seat and heated steering wheel and front seats.

The Yaris Cross Dynamic is positioned as a sister trim to the Excel but is more SUV-focused in both looks and the fact that it can be specified with front- or intelligent all-wheel drive (AWD-i). It carries over the extra equipment of the Excel but also gets a bi-tone paint finish with black roof. It’s priced at £26,465 in front-wheel drive or £28,825 with AWD-i.

Finally, the limited-run Yaris Cross Premiere Edition features 18-inch alloys, black leather seat upholstery, JBL eight-speaker premium sound system, 10-inch colour head-up display, power tailgate with kick sensor, bi-tone paint finish with black roof and heated front seats. As with the Dynamic, it can be specified with optional intelligent all-wheel drive and is priced at £28,185 with front-wheel drive or £30,545 with AWD-i.

All Yaris Cross models come with the Toyota Safety Sense package active safety and driver assistance systems as standard. This includes a pre-collision system with pedestrian and cyclist recognition and emergency steering assist, full-range intelligent adaptive cruise control, lane departure alert and lane trace assist, road sign assist, and automatic high beam. Yaris Cross also come with eCall which can automatically summon emergency services assistance in the event of a serious impact. The Excel also adds in blind spot monitor and rear cross traffic alert with auto brake.

Pre-sales start 4 May with vehicle reservations accepted prior to first test drives being available during August. Customer deliveries will start in September.
