2023 Toyota Highlander hybrid SUV updated with new connected tech
Toyota is updating its Highlander hybrid SUV with new connected technologies for the 2023 model year.
Introduced to the UK in 2021, the seven-seat Highlander now adopts the new Toyota Smart Connect+ multimedia system, which combines a 12.3-inch touchscreen with cloud-based navigation including real-time information and an onboard voice agent.
The cloud navigation can be accessed without having to pair a smartphone and without any add-on additional data costs; the new Highlander comes with an inclusive four-year data plan that also covers over-the-air system updates.
The embedded navigation system can also plan routes in situations where connection to the cloud is not available. This also provides 3D city mapping, road sign recognition and fixed-speed camera location information.
Remote functions include locking and unlocking of the doors and operation of the hazard lights to help locate the car. Drivers can also make use of wireless smartphone connection via Apple CarPlay, plus wired connection to use the Android Auto system. A wireless charging tray comes as standard and is now situated in the front console for easier use.
Toyota has also made over the driver’s instrument display with the introduction of a new 12.3-inch digital combimeter that provides easy-to-read information and intuitive operation. Also new for 2023 are 20-inch gloss black alloy wheels.
Prices for the new 2023 Highlander and on-sale date will be announced in the coming weeks.
