£50 credit to drivers signing up to EV tariffs in November
EDF is offering a £50 credit to anyone who signs up for any of its electric vehicle tariffs during November.
The energy provider said the limited-time offer would mean that two of its EV tariffs, GoElectric Overnight and Pod Point EV Exclusive, would become the cheapest options on the market.
For an average motorist, charging with GoElectric Overnight will save drivers £828 a year compared to petrol, according to EDF. And compared with using the public charging network, EV drivers charging with the tariff would save £752.
The range of EV tariffs also includes the EVolve and Pod Point Plug & Power solutions, and all come with five hours of cheaper electricity every night between 12am – 5am for customers’ homes and cars, and are backed by 100% zero-carbon electricity.
All of EDF’s EV tariffs are compatible with all vehicles, regardless of the make or model.
Rich Hughes, director of retail at EDF, said: “We are dedicated to helping customers reduce their energy costs while supporting the transition to electric vehicles and greener energy.
“This deal means we’re offering two of the most affordable EV tariffs in the market by giving customers £50 back in their pocket. Plus, with all our tariffs offering competitive off-peak rates, we hope it will encourage more drivers to drive electric and save cash and carbon in the process.”
EDF is supporting the switch to electric motoring through its partnerships with Drive Electric for electric vehicle leasing, and Pod Point for charging solutions.
EDF’s EV tariffs are designed to suit different charging and home energy needs.
The GoElectric Overnight product is one of the lowest priced EV tariffs with five hours of off-peak electricity at 8.99p per kWh. It’s compatible with any make of charger.
The Pod Point EV Exclusive delivers off-peak rates of 8.49p per kWh, available for new Pod Point customers.
Under Evolve, motorists can save £200 a year, and never pay more than the Ofgem price cap. The variable tariff offers the same electricity day rate as standard variable and an off-peak rate priced 10p lower than the Standard Variable Direct Debit price cap rate. It’s compatible with any make of charger.
Finally, Pod Point Plug & Power offers drivers the ability to purchase a Pod Point Solo 3S charger for an initial payment of £499 (compared to £1,099) and spread the remaining cost for the charger over two years, integrated into the tariff.
To be eligible for the £50 credit, new or existing customers will need to sign up for any EV tariff throughout November, and the credit will be applied to their account within 30 days of signing up.
Customers are required to have a smart meter and opt into half-hourly meter readings to sign up for any of EDF’s EV tariffs.
