The car shares its diesel-electric drivetrain with the RXH, but has a conventional ride height and no off-road body cladding.

With a 2.0-litre HDI 163 engine at the front, and 37bhp electric motor powering the rear wheels, it offers 200bhp and four wheel drive traction but with 78.5mpg combined fuel economy and 95g/km CO2 emissions  – resulting in 10% Benefit in Kind taxation and a 100% Capital Write-Down Alowance.

Spec is similar to the 508 Allure, with a stop/start button, 18-inch alloy wheels, half leather seats and automatic parking brake, air conditioning, headlamps and wipers fitted as standard. The 508 HYbrid4 saloon is priced from £31,450 and goes on sale in July.

Phil Robson, fleet and used car director at Peugeot UK, said: ‘Never until now has there been a choice of cars that comprehensively ticks so many boxes. I firmly believe we have a real success story on our hands with the 508, and I think businesses will greatly value the considerable virtues that we have to offer in these new and accomplished HYbrid4 products.’
