ABB has updated its Terra High Power (HP) charger with a number of developments for both fleets and charging operators.

The Terra HP features a 5.3m retractable charge cable, a 15-inch touchscreen display, LED strips to improve night-time visibility and multiple payment options

Providing the capability to charge EVs up to 350kW, it uses a compact design along with high output power at low noise levels, a long charge cable with cable retraction system, and several authentication, payment and customisation options.

The Terra HP features a 5.3m retractable charge cable, a 15-inch touchscreen display, LED strips to improve night-time visibility and multiple payment options.

It also supports commercial charging operations, including expanded branding options for charging providers and several payment solutions, Dynamic DC power sharing to optimise use of charging assets and site management solutions to enable future growth while enhancing grid optimisation cost.

The Terra HP provides the additional benefit of the ABB Ability Connected Services, which deliver enhanced functionality, including the ability to easily connect chargers to back offices, payment platforms or smart grids systems. Meanwhile, remote monitoring and diagnostics minimise downtime and keep running costs low.

In a statement, ABB said high-power charging offers a lot of planning flexibility, particularly for fleets operating longer distances and potentially on charging depots. Customers of the TerraHP include Dutch retailer Albert Heijn, which has stores spanning 1,044 locations in the Netherlands and Belgium, and is fast-tracking its CO2 neutral transportation commitments.

“With over 2,500 installations of our second-generation Terra HP so far, the next evolution of the Terra HP charger will continue to serve customers today with the capability to meet future demands. The further development of the top-selling Terra HP charger displays ABB’s commitment to continuously pioneer and deliver innovative technologies that will advance the future of sustainable transportation,” said Frank Muehlon, president of ABB’s E-mobility Division.
