Allstar Business Solutions has partnered with Gridserve, enabling its Allstar One Electric card to be accepted across the Gridserve Electric Highway.

The Allstar One Electric card now gives full access to the Gridserve Electric Highway

It means the Allstar One Electric card – along with roaming cards that are part of the Allstar Network, such as Mina Chargepass – have full access to the Electric Highway. This covers more than 160 locations, including the two flagship Electric Forecourts in Braintree and Norwich, as well as its High Power Electric Super Hubs and Medium Power Electric Hubs that cover 85% of the UK’s motorway service areas.

The strategic move further expands Allstar’s rapidly growing EV network to more than 2,700 locations and over 7,300 charging points. It also makes the Allstar One Electric Card the first third-party payment method to be available for use on the Electric Highway alongside contactless.

Tom Rowlands, managing director, global EV solutions at Allstar Business Solutions, said: “Allstar is really excited to have added Gridserve Electric Highway to its network, which demonstrates our commitment to adding high-quality and importantly high-speed networks for our fleet customers. We are Gridserve’s first partner alongside contactless card acceptance specifically for fleets, which offers us a unique proposition for our customers.”

Both firms also said it was a crucial step in providing seamless EV charging across the UK for fleets.

Tom Rowlands added: “Recent vehicle sales figures show that there is a clear and growing appetite from UK fleet operators to incorporate EVs into their businesses and ultimately make the full transition. To help them achieve this it is essential that we partner with leading electric charging operators, such as Gridserve. This will help us to offer greater access to charging points for drivers and reduce any threat of range anxiety for vehicles on the road.”

The collaboration follows Gridserves work to upgrade all its chargers across the UK’s motorways, on the back of its acquisition of the network from green energy firm Ecotricity in June 2021.

Toddington Harper, founder and CEO of Gridserve, added: “We are committed to building an awesome UK-wide charging network, enabling anyone, anywhere, in any type of EV to take on any journey and have a great customer experience. We look forward to working with Allstar to deliver a fantastic EV charging experience for fleet drivers.”

Mina also welcomed the deal. Its chargepass roaming network is part of the Allstar network and the new collaboration means customers can now take full advantage of charging their company EVs at Gridserve locations across the country, using just one single RFID card.

Chris Dalrymple, managing director, Mina, said: “Providing customers with a fast and reliable network forms a key part of our strategy, and partnering with Allstar has enabled us to supercharge this through their ever expanding network.”

He added: “Bringing on Gridserve will increase the number of high-speed chargers within the Mina Chargepass network dramatically. This will help to alleviate any excess idle time for drivers that areusing our locations to charge their company EV whilst out on the road. A great bonus for businesses on our platform.”
