B–ON Pelkan eLCV makes US debut at CES 2024
All-electric LCV firm B–On has presented its Pelkan electric light commercial vehicle (eLCV) at the CES event in Las Vegas.
Launching later this year, it’s designed as a long-range eLCV designed for urban last-mile delivery. Cost-competitive, ergonomic, and connected to the company’s proven operating system, the vehicle is expected to be available from 2024 in both 43 and 54 kWh battery variants.
It’s the first offering in the company’s next-generation line-up of “productive” vehicles and tools and will be available in both 54 and 43kWh variants. It’s expected to achieve a class-leading payload of 1,234 to 1,320 kg, combined with a battery range of up to 185 miles. The Pelkan is also designed to be more ergonomic for drivers and more cost-competitive for business owners than comparable offerings in its class.
B-ON displayed the Pelkan fitted with its proprietary smart dispenser technology – also making its US debut and designed to significantly reduce the time required for drivers to load and unload packages in last-mile delivery use cases. It comprises a rotating set of shelves that sit in the vehicle’s cargo box, directly inside a row of scanners. The tech scans the address of each package as it is loaded into a shelf and uses GPS to automatically retrieve the corresponding package as the driver arrives at its destination.
The technology will be offered as a stand-alone add-on or integrated into the Pelkan – and B–On estimates that the tech pays for itself within six months of use due to the increase in productivity for drivers.
