On sale now, the latest iteration of the Audi Q8 E-tron and Volvo EX90 rival is available in three new designations that signal increased performance while also featuring latest advancements in battery cell technology to boost net energy storage capacity and range.

The line-up now starts with the iX xDrive45, the successor to the iX xDrive40. As with the other two models, it features a twin-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain, which in this case now delivers 408hp – up by 82hp over the iX xDrive40 – shaving 1.0 second off the 0-62mph sprint, which now takes 5.1 seconds. Top speed stands at 124mph and official WLTP range from the new 94.8kWh (net) battery is up to 374 miles for the Sport grade and up to 367 for the M Sport. It’s priced from £74,400 for the Sport and £77,400 for the X Sport.

Next up is the xDrive60, which replaces the former xDrive50. It delivers 544hp – 21hp more than the outgoing model – enabling a 0-62mph acceleration of 4.6 seconds and, like the new xDrive 45, has an electronically limited top speed of 124mph. Purely available in M Sport grade and now equipped with a 109.1kWh battery, it delivers the highest WLTP range of the line-up at up to 426 miles – 34 miles more – and is priced from £92,200.

The range-topping iX M70 xDrive succeeds the M60 and boosts power by 40hp to 659hp in Sport mode, while 1,100Nm of torque is available when Launch Control is activated. The M70 xDrive accelerates from 0 to 62mph in 3.8 seconds and can reach a top speed of 155mph. Range stands at up to 366 miles from the new 108.9kWh battery and prices start from £113,300.

Peak DC charging stands at 175kW for the xDrive45 and 195kW for the new xDrive60 and M70 xDrive. All three can charge at up to 22kW AC.

Alongside the extra power, the updated iX also gets a revised chassis and suspension setup. The M70 xDrive is also equipped with adaptive two-axle ride level control, electronically controlled shock absorbers, M-specific tuning and anti-roll bars, Integral Active Steering and a sports brake system with red-painted callipers.

Across all models, the iX is fitted as standard with hill descent control and the option to deactivate dynamic stability control.

Design changes deliver a bolder exterior design look, equipped with a redesigned BMW kidney grille that comes with BMW Iconic Glow illumination as an option – and standard for the iX M70 xDrive.

The enhanced M Sport trim adds in new design features, including a sculpted front bumper and rear diffuser finished in high-gloss black, large air intakes at the front and vertical reflectors at the rear, along with new aerodynamically optimised 21- and 22-inch M light-alloy wheels, among other exclusive design features

The range-topping model iX M70 xDrive is equipped with the M Sport trim and M Sport Pro package as standard and additionally features a model-specific BMW kidney grille adorned with the M logo, black exterior mirror caps and exclusive 22-inch M light-alloy wheels.

Standard features across all model variants include adaptive LED headlights, ‘Comfort Access’, heated seats for driver and front passenger and a heated steering wheel. Other standard equipment includes Driving Assistant Plus including active cruise control with stop & go functionality, front collision warning with brake intervention and parking assistant with reversing assistant and a rear camera. The BMW Live Cockpit Professional with head-up display and the Harman Kardon Surround Sound System are also available with the standard model.

Produced at BMW Group Plant Dingolfing, the reworked iX starts first UK customer deliveries from May 2025.
