BMW X5 and X6 updated with new styling and longer plug-in range
BMW has significantly enhanced its X5 and X6 with refreshed styling, updated equipment and powertrain revisions that include increased range for the plug-in hybrid.
The sibling SUVs, which sit in the luxury Sports Activity Vehicle and Sports Activity Coupé segments (aka traditional SUV and coupé markets) respectively, are built at BMW Group Plant Spartanburg and the latest updates are intended to reinforce their leading status.
Design changes include revisions to the grille, headlights and front bumper while the interior gets a new Curved Display housing a 12.3-inch information display and a 14.9-inch control display behind a single glass surface, featuring BMW’s latest Operating System 8 and with intuitive touch control.
The powertrain line-up has been overhauled, including the X5 xDrive50e plug-in hybrid, which gets an extra 96hp of power to 490hp, with pure electric driving range increased to 68 miles (WLTP) thanks to an almost 25% increase in battery capacity to 25.7kWh.
The rest of the powertrain line-up gets 48V mild-hybrid technology across all petrol and diesel engines, including a new 4.4-litre V8. All feature an eight-speed automatic gearbox and xDrive four-wheel drive system as standard.
The new X5 and X6 are available to order now and start deliveries in April. Prices start from £66,230 for the X5 and £72,430 for the X6.
