Bosch and Evatran announce wireless charging package

The Plugless Level 2 Electric Vehicle Charging system is claimed to be the first commercially available wireless charger, and includes a pad mounted on the floor, which allows Chevrolet Volt and Nissan LEAF owners to simply park and charge without any physical connections.

Under the agreement, a Bosch-certified electrician will provide on-site estimates and install the pad, control panel and associated wiring, while Bosch Car Service centres will be trained to fit the on-vehicle components required for wireless charging.

Bosch will also provide post-installation support for the systems, including finding money-saving utility company, government or vehicle manufacturer rebates, and providing a three-year product warranty.

Rebecca Hough, CEO and co-founder of Evatran, said: ‘Plugless L2 gives EV drivers a more convenient, reliable charging option. Working with Bosch’s existing network of certified electricians and 1,300+ Bosch Car Service centers across the U.S., combined with their industry-leading financing options, we’re bringing a game-changing charging solution to the EV market.’
