Britain’s third largest trade union to replace Toyota Prius fleet with Auris hybrids

The deal for the British-built Auris Hybrid fits in with GMB’s key buy British criterion along with its focus on strong eco credentials; the Auris models will replace the existing Toyota Prius hybrids on the union’s fleet.

With respective CO2 emissions of 91 and 92g/km, the Excel trim Auris and Auris Touring Sports specified by GMB also offer low BiK rates and zero annual road tax (VED) along with high fuel economy; official combined cycle figures are 72.4 and 70.6mpg for the hatch and wagon.

Paul Kenny, GMB general secretary, said: ‘GMB members have supported the union in its actions to improve its environmental impact, and the move over to the Auris represents one of the largest changes we have made to meet that demand.

‘GMB has moved from Prius to the new Auris as the successful hybrid power vehicle will be a useful tool for our organisers in their constant drive to serve GMB members.’
