British Gas to provide charging points for Renault

As part of the deal, buyers will be offered a £995 home charging point, installed by a British Gas engineer, which cuts recharge times by a third. The supplier has also launched an electricity tariff designed for electric car owners, claimed to save up to £1,200 per year compared to a petrol car.

British Gas has already teamed up with Renault’s Alliance partner, Nissan, and offers a similar service for buyers of the Nissan LEAF. According to research by Market Gravity, it gives British Gas a potential 59% of the home charging point market, based on projected EV sales.

Renault’s first electric vehicle, the Kangoo Van Z.E., goes on sale later this year.
