BVRLA’s Fleets in Charge Conference to spotlight latest EV developments
The BVRLA has revealed details of its upcoming Fleets in Charge Conference, which will give insights and tips on growing electric.
Taking place on 20 September at the QEII Centre in London, the event is open to all fleets and will show how different parts of the fleet and mobility services sector are embracing new zero-emission technology and the latest business models.
As the countdown to the launch of the UK’s ZEV mandate continues, the association has also confirmed that a senior Government official will outline the upcoming policy milestones that can be expected in the run-up to the 2030 phase-out.
A separate ‘masterclass’ will explore how fleets and local authorities can worth together on local charging.
The event will also include an opening keynote from Maria Bengtsson of EY, presenting how the UK’s progress compares on a global scale. Senior executives from Motability Operations, Europcar and Arval UK will give keynotes on the routes being taken to decarbonise the sector. And insight panels will explore the UK’s charging infrastructure challenges and the used EV market.
The event will showcase how the fleet and mobility services industry remains committed to rapid decarbonisation, despite a wave of negative press coverage over the Government’s phase-out target for banning the sale of new petrol and diesel vehicles.
“The fleet sector has always led the way in adopting new technologies and bringing cleaner, greener vehicles to our roads,” said BVRLA chief executive, Gerry Keaney. “Speculation over deadlines saps confidence and breeds uncertainty. We have a phase-out plan… let’s stick with it.”
Keaney added: “Meeting the phase-out target will require sustained effort and investment. Businesses need clarity on what is required and confidence that the goalposts are not going to shift. Abandoning the phase-out plan at this stage would create widespread uncertainty and distrust, causing progress to stall or even reverse.”
Official partners for Fleets in Charge 2023 are the AA, Arval UK, Auto Trader, Dynamon and Mina.
