On-street charging network Char.gy has reached a new milestone with the installation of its 3,000^th charging point.

Located in the London borough of Lambeth, the new unit is part of a UK-wide network that is supporting the transition to sustainable transport, particularly for the c.40% of UK households without off-street parking.

Char.gy is accelerating the rollout of its on-street chargers, supporting councils with their net zero plans, and can now install 400 charge points per month. Its latest landmark comes just over a year after the 2,000^th Char.gy point went live and six years after the installation of its first public charge point in Marlow, Buckinghamshire in 2018. The company aims to facilitate seamless EV usage for over one million drivers by 2030.

On-street chargers are a vital component in the Government’s EV vision for 2030, and their installation is supported by a £381m Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) fund for councils.

Established in 2023, the funding has already allocated more than £185m towards on-street charging projects in England and the total funding pool will provide support to councils until 2025.

Char.gy offers councils an end-to-end partnership service, covering infrastructure planning, installation, and ongoing maintenance. Its range of charge point devices, designed and manufactured in the UK, can be swiftly fitted to existing on-street electricity infrastructure.

EV drivers using the Char.gy network not only benefit not only from a convenient network of roadside chargers but also from cost-saving opportunities, such as the night saver tariff launched a year, which offers reduced kWh rates for overnight charging.
