Sainsbury’s, with its Smart Charge ultra-rapid charging service, becomes the first retailer in ChargeUK
New additions include Allego and Sainsbury’s, both of which join as full members. Sainsbury’s, with its Smart Charge ultra-rapid charging service, also marks the first retailer in the organisation.
Lucy Group and Sungrow join ChargeUK as associate members.
The latest additions to the association reinforce the industry’s work to come together to support the transition to EVs by ensuring convenient and affordable charging is rolled out at pace.
By publicly committing to invest over £6bn by 2030, ChargeUK members are delivering and operating world-class charging infrastructure, creating jobs, supporting economic growth, and powering the UK’s switch to electric vehicles.
Vicky Read, CEO of ChargeUK, said: “With the ZEV mandate consultation ongoing, we are moving into a pivotal period for the future of the transition.
“Now more than ever, it’s great to see companies from across different sectors coming together to work towards an electric future. The continuing growth of ChargeUK demonstrates this, as we look forward to having the expertise and experience of Allego, Sainsbury’s, Lucy Group and Sungrow in our organisation.
“These new members will aid ChargeUK in continuing the rollout at a record pace, ensuring deployment ramps up in locations that have been hampered by delays, and making sure the UK has a thriving EV market, so that investment in infrastructure continues at scale.”
