Citroën has introduced new, lower-price versions of its ë-C4 hatchback cum SUV, cutting entry pricing nearly £2,500 to £28,495.

The updated ë-C4 range now starts from £28,495 OTR after the Plug-in Car Grant

Launched in response to customer demands for more accessible routes into EV driving, the new Sense and Shine Edition models replace the previous Sense Plus and Shine editions and sit under the existing Shine Plus range-topper, offering a “genuinely accessible” entry point to fully electric motoring.

The new entry-level Shine model is priced at £29,995, reduced to £28,495 after the Plug-in Car Grant is applied – down by £2,400 on the former Shine Plus model. Standard specification includes LED headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels, power-folding mirrors, rear parking sensors and Keyless Entry & Start. Onboard technology includes a 10-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth telephone and audio streaming, DAB digital radio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Shine also includes dual-zone climate control and an integrated tablet mount for front passengers.

Safety equipment brings video-assisted Active Safety Brake, Speed Limit Information, Lane Keeping Assist and Forward Collision Warning, all as standard.

The new Shine Edition grade is priced at £30,495 (including PiCG) and adds in head-up display, Active Cruise Control, Active Blind Spot Detection and the Safety Plus Pack, which includes Extended Traffic Sign Recognition and Active Safety Brake (video- and radar-assisted), with night-time and cyclist detection.

Shine Edition models also gain the Citroën Connect Nav (with a free, three-year subscription to real-time traffic updates), front and rear parking sensors, colour reversing camera, heated steering wheel and a two-position boot floor.

The best-selling Shine Plus remains in place at the top of the range and features wireless smartphone charging, a HiFi speaker system with subwoofer, heated front seats and a ‘Hype Black’ interior ambience featuring black leather and leather-effect seats with grey stitching.

The range revision follows the October 2021 update to the ë-C4, which increased real-world range though further optimisation of both the heat pump and transmission system.
