Citroën ë-C4 and ë-C4 X get increased power and range

Citroën UK has expanded its ë-C4 and ë-C4 X model ranges with a new powertrain that ups both performance and electric range.

The ë-C4 X gains a new higher performance and range powertrain

Arriving as the carmaker also opens order books for petrol and diesel versions of the C4 X fastback crossover, it pairs up a new, larger 54kWh battery pack with a more efficient 156hp electric motor. A heat pump is included as standard, maximising energy efficiency and cooling, while A+ 18-inch tyres reduce rolling resistance and minimise energy loss through friction.

The electric motor and battery enhancements reduce average energy consumption, giving an increased driving range of up to 260 miles WLTP, depending on the version – up by some 40 miles compared to the existing versions. Despite the increased battery capacity, charging times stay the same and the models are able to charge at up to 100kW.

The more powerful motor also delivers an extra 20hp of power and 260Nm of torque.

It’s being sold alongside the existing versions with a 50kWh battery and 136hp electric motor, which provide WLTP range of up to 219 miles (ë-C4) and 222 miles (ë-C4 X).

Citroën UK has also confirmed that it’s now offering petrol and diesel versions of the C4 X, which were previously only on sale in selected markets in Europe. The carmaker said the change of plan was due to demand from fleet operators and private customers.

New powertrains available include the PureTech 100 Stop&Start six-speed manual, PureTech 130 Stop&Start EAT8 eight-speed automatic and BlueHDI 130 Stop&Start EAT8 eight-speed automatic.

Pricing and specification details will be announced imminently and UK production will begin in July 2023.
