Citroën has added to its ë-SpaceTourer range, with the electric MPV now available in both ‘M’ and ‘XL’ forms in the UK.

The XL ë-SpaceTourer uses the same wheelbase as the M and features up to nine seats again – the extra length is used for increased load space of 3,100 litres (loaded to the roof), compared with 2,550 litres in ‘M’ versions.

While the diesel-powered SpaceTourer is already available in both sizes, the full electric model was initially just launched in a 4.95m-long M version in two grades, revamped to Business Edition and Flair earlier this year.

Now, the 5.3m XL variant is making its way here, although the smaller 4.6m remains the preserve of other markets in Europe.

The XL uses the same wheelbase as the M and features up to nine seats again – the extra length is used for increased load space of 3,100 litres (loaded to the roof), compared with 2,550 litres in ‘M’ versions.

All models are powered by a 136hp electric motor, in turn powered by a 50kWh battery that gives up to a 143-mile range. The ë-SpaceTourer supports up to 100kW rapid charging and an 80% re-charge takes 30 minutes, while full charge from a 7.4kW domestic wallbox takes 7 hours and 30 minutes.

Entry-level Business Edition models can seat up to nine people, accommodated in three rows of seats and with the second and third rows featuring a 1/3-2/3 split design and able to be removed. The second row also comes with Isofix anchorage points as standard. Equipment includes air con, cruise control, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a 7-inch touchscreen and a driver attention alert system.

The Flair variants come with eight seats, featuring leather upholstery and with heating and massage functions on driver and front passenger seats. Extra equipment includes 17-inch alloy wheels, body-colour exterior door handles with chrome detail and a panoramic glass roof. Flair models also feature Citroën Connect Nav with real-time traffic alerts, as well as Citroën Connect Box that alerts emergency services and recovery services in the event of an incident.

The ë-SpaceTourer XL is priced from £34,940 for the Business Edition, ensuring it qualifies for the Plug-in Car Grant and bringing pricing down to £32,495. Earlier this year, Citroën significantly cut pricing for the M Business Edition in line with its Fair Pricing pledge, making sure it still got the grant. The XL in Flair trim is priced at £48,280, compared to £47,440 for the M Flair.
