Palma already has incentives in place for electric vehicle owners, including a 75% road tax discount, exemption from parking fees within the city and a growing network of charging points located in municipal car parks.

The LEAF will be used as a pool car, giving the Council’s staff first-hand experience of using the technology as part of the fleet.

Gabriel Vallejo, Councillor of the Department of Transportation of the City of Palma, said: ‘The care and protection of the environment is shared by all departments of the City of Palma.

‘It is essential that those in the area of mobility work to implement effective measures to reduce pollution levels and improve the quality of life of citizens. In this context, implementation of the electric car will be vital.’
