Corby Borough Council implements EV bays

The new bays are in the immediate vicinity of the current recharging points at the Parkland Gateway Car Park off Westcott Way and will come into effect from midnight on 20th November 2014. The parking order is also being updated in line with the change.

The Leader of Corby Borough Council, Cllr Tom Beattie, said: ‘The Council in partnership with Electric Corby are continuing to lead the way in delivering public electric vehicle charging infrastructure in the town and this is something that we should be very proud of.

‘Now we have these charging points in place in several areas throughout the town it is important that we ensure they can be used. We know that there are more electric vehicles now being used within the Borough and we hope that by introducing changes such as dedicated electrical vehicle bays then we can encourage this trend to increase further.’

The dedicated electrical vehicle bays are part of a wide range of projects relating to smart energy management, renewable energy, resource efficiency, low carbon vehicles and beyond, that Corby Borough Council in partnership with Electric Corby are pursuing.
