Cupra has added new powertrains to its Formentor SUV and Leon Estate models, including a new entry-level plug-in hybrid for the Formentor.

Priced from £35,770, the 204hp Formentor e-Hybrid sits under the existing £38,625 plug-in hybrid Formentor, which features a 245hp powertrain.

The new Formentor e-Hybrid teams up a 1.4-litre TSI petrol engine with a 116hp electric motor and 12.8kWh battery pack, giving 330Nm of torque – propelling the Formentor from 0-62mph in 7.8 seconds and on to a top speed of 127mph.

The new powertrain brings added efficiency compared to its bigger brother. It delivers up to 235.4mpg on the combined WLTP cycle and CO2 emissions from 27g/km, along with a 37-mile electric-only range. This means it qualifies for a low BiK rating of 11% for 2021/22, making it very fleet-friendly.

It can be recharged from 0-100% in 3.5 hours using a 3.6kW AC charger, and is offered in two trims: the entry-level V1 trim and the £37,600 V2 variant.

V1 trim brings features such as 18-inch machined sport black and silver alloy wheels, tinted rear windows, LED headlights, tail-lights and dynamic indicators, a digital cockpit and 12-inch Navigation system with Full Link phone integration, rear parking sensors, wireless phone charging and three-zone climate control. It also includes keyless entry and start, and high beam assist while driver assistance features include dynamic road sign display and Predictive Adaptive Cruise Control.

V2 adds 19-inch machined sport matte black and silver alloy wheels, nappa leather, heated front seats, power driver seat with memory function, leather dashboard, door inserts and side trim panels, heated steering wheel, front parking sensors and a reversing camera.

The Formentor line-up also gets a new variant of the 2.0 TSI petrol engine, which is now available as a 190hp 4Drive four-wheel drive model, priced from £32,000 and £33,830 respectively for V1 and V2 trims.

And the Formentor now gains a 245hp TSI DSG-auto 2, available exclusively in VZ1 trim priced from £34,155. The VZ1 trim adds in sporting upgrades, including a rear diffuser, bucket seats, dynamic chassis control, sports suspension and speed-sensitive power steering. Other additions include electric tailgate and dynamic road sign display, high beam assist, blind spot monitoring and exit warning.

Cupra has also updated its Leon Estate line-up with its fastest performance estate to date. The new 2.0 TSI DSG-auto 4Drive model brings 310hp and 400Nm of torque, enabling the Leon Estate to accelerate from 0-62mph in 4.9 seconds and with a top speed of 155mph. On the combined WLTP cycle, the 310hp Leon Estate offers up to 34.4mpg and CO2 emissions from 186g/km.

It’s priced from £38,475 for the VZ2 variant, rising to £40,535 for the top VZ3 trim.
