Unveiled in October 2024 and open for pre-orders now, the new C-SUV segment contender undercuts key rivals such as the Kia Sportage, carrying over Dacia’s value-for-money ethos.

The brand’s biggest model yet, the Bigster sits above the Duster and is built on the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi CMF-B platform that’s also used for the new-gen Duster and the Jogger seven-seat MPV as well as the Renault 5.

It debuts in full hybrid and mild hybrid versions along with three trim levels, all coming in at under £30,000 OTR. Grades include Expression, as well as two top-rung options – Journey and Extreme – offering different equipment, but with complementary features.

Standard equipment includes keyless entry, 10.1-inch central touchscreen, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, alloy wheels, front and rear parking sensors, Multiview camera, automatic wipers, Hill Start Assist, four ‘YouClip’ attachment points for fixing accessories, and intelligent speed assist cruise control with speed limiter.

Driving aids as standard on all trims include advanced emergency braking, traffic sign recognition with speed alert, emergency stop signal, lane change alert, lane keep assist, driver attention warning and the emergency call system (eCall).

Entry-level Expression trim, priced from £24,995, gets 17-inch diamond alloy wheels, the Media Display multimedia system with four speakers and wireless, Apple CarPlay / Android Auto, plus a 40/20/40 split rear bench with easy fold functionality.

Journey starts from £26,245 and gains 19-inch semi-diamond-cut alloy wheels, bespoke seating upholstery, front passenger seat lumbar support, and a powered tailgate.

Extreme, aimed at outdoorsy types, is priced from £26,495 and comes with 18-inch semi-diamond-cut alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, modular roof bars, washable MicroCloud TEP upholstery and rubber mats as standard.

Shared features across both top trim levels include heated steering wheel, heated front seats, wireless phone charging, high beam assist, heated and electronically adjustable door mirrors and rear window privacy glass, plus an optional two-tone black painted roof.

Three electrified powertrains are up for grabs. The entry-level TCe 140 powertrain combines a new-generation 1.2-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with a 48V mild hybrid system, outputting 140hp.

This same mild hybrid powertrain is used for the TCe 130 4×4, which has 130hp of power, is equipped with four-wheel drive and is only available in the Expression and Extreme trim levels.

The flagship Hybrid 155 full hybrid makes its debut in the Renault Group. It combines a 110hp four-cylinder 1.8-litre petrol engine, two electric motors (a 50hp main electric motor and a starter generator motor), a 1.4kWh battery and an automatic electric gearbox. Combined power output is 155hp and it has four gears for the ICE engine and two for the electric motors, always starts up in EV mode and is able to remain in all-electric mode up to 80% of the time in city driving.

The Dacia Bigster is available to pre-order now by placing a refundable £250 deposit via Dacia’s website.
