Octopus Electric Vehicles is offering the Dacia Spring for £195 a month

The EV leasing specialist has placed an initial order of 50 units of the fully electric hatchback for its sal-sac scheme.

Already the UK’s most affordable new electric car, the Spring will also lay claim to being one of the best-value EVs to lease.

Launching as the first Dacia Springs hit the roads in the UK, the bargain leasing deal challenges the view that electric cars are more expensive and includes the car, installed home charger, insurance, maintenance and access to Octopus Electroverse, a charging roaming service with access to over 850,000 chargers, paid for with one card and app.

The ‘game-changing’ deal is aimed at anyone who wants to keep their motoring costs low or maybe want to try their first EV.

Salary sacrifice allows drivers to lease a car through their employer – paying through their gross salary and saving up to 40% on income tax and national insurance.

Alvin Castillo, head of procurement at Octopus Electric Vehicles, said: “New EV models are hitting UK roads every month, providing drivers with a choice to help find the car that is the right fit for them. Being able to get a new electric car for less than £200 a month is a gamechanger – opening up clean, affordable driving for drivers that previously wouldn’t have been able to switch.”

Delivering a WLTP combined range of up to 137 miles, the five-door supermini will be available from Octopus Electric Vehicles in Expression and Extreme specifications, both offering a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, cruise control, manual air conditioning, rear parking sensors, Media Control system with USB port, electric front windows and remote central locking.

The 26.8kWh battery can be charged from 20% to 100% in four hours using a 7kW home charger.

Luke Broad, Dacia brand director for the UK, commented: “With such an affordable price and compact size, we knew the Spring would be perfect for many fleet customers. We love that leasing via Octopus Electric Vehicles makes switching to an EV so easy and accessible, allowing more UK drivers to get behind the wheel of a highly efficient and usable car at a very attractive cost.”
