Daimler and Qualcomm form wireless charging partnership

The strategic collaboration includes using the Qualcomm Halo Wireless Electric Vehicle Charging (WEVC) technology, which would enable drivers to park over a charging pad rather than physically connecting a plug-in vehicle to a post.

Daimler will also work with Qualcomm to offer wireless in-car charging for mobile devices, and on ways to enhance 3G and 4G connectivity for occupants.

Prof. Dr. Thomas Weber, member of the board of management of Daimler AG responsible for group research and Mercedes-Benz Cars development, said: "It's important that we remain on the cutting edge of technology and continue to deliver unparalleled experiences to our customers. With this in mind, we are eager to jointly explore possible fields of future cooperation with an internationally leading tech firm like Qualcomm."
