Darcica invests in eDeliver 9 electric fleet from Rygor Maxus
Environmentally focused logistics business firm Darcica has updated its fleet to electric vans from Rygor Maxus.
It’s deployed three eDeliver 9 eLCVs, supplied through the Maxus arm of dealer group Rygor. Rygor launched its new Maxus franchise last year, with a showroom based at its Newbury site, headed up by experienced sales manager Paul Naylor and supported by Samuel Tobie as Maxus business development executive.
Darcica Logistics’ director, Anthony Tattersall said the firm has always been committed to an ethos of being a sustainable business, taking logistics into the future.
“Although I know many companies are considering moving their fleet to electric vehicles, I wanted to be ahead of the game in the logistics field and make the change now to help reduce my carbon footprint,” he added.
A chat with Rygor Maxus’s Paul Naylor led to a week-long test drive of the eDeliver 9, which showed the van was the perfect fit for the business – including for its official range of up to 219 miles when driving in the city and using the largest battery size.
“It’s safe to say I loved the van,” added Tattersall. “The range, the comfort and the look. I did not hesitate in placing an order and now I have three on the fleet.
“My drivers absolutely love them due to the comfort, the great display screen and even the electric footstep which comes out when you open the side door. It really is the little things which can make all the difference when you are doing this job. Even the fact that the door locking is contactless just saves them a little more time on each delivery they do, making their day more efficient.”
Making the switch to electric has also led the business to become more sustainable overnight – Tattarsall’s calculations reveal that the company will save approximately 12 tonnes of CO2 per year, per van.
It’s the latest work by the business to be more sustainable; it was recognised as a finalist in this year’s Oxfordshire Business Awards within in the Green Award category.
“We’re not just paying lip service to wanting to go more sustainable, we are actively making changes which will benefit our planet and improve it for future generations. It is important to us that we work with like-minded businesses like Rygor. We all have a role to play and at Darcica, we will continue to take important steps towards lowering our carbon footprint,” Tattarsall finished.
