Daventry Council gives green light to EV charging point

According to a report in the Daventry Express, the council’s strategy group discussed the proposal to install a charging point for electric vehicles at the town’s Lodge Road car park.

The project would cost £7,200, with funding being applied for by Cenex as well as proposed sponsorship from Great Central Plastics in Woodford Halse.

Cllr Daniel Cribbin, portfolio holder for environment at DDC, said: ‘The proposed electric vehicle charging point is intended to further strengthen our environmental commitments that target a reduction in carbon emissions, while also giving the chance to support existing owners and encourage those who many be considering purchasing electric cars.

‘Through grant funding and commercial sponsorship this initiative will not cost the council and, if approved, its usage would be assessed after an initial three-year period.’
