DPD signs EV deal with Allstar to drive fleet decarbonisation
DPD is offering its EV drivers full access to the Allstar Chargepass payment solution for public and home charging under a new deal.
The agreement builds on the firms’ existing partnership and supports DPD’s plans to transition 40% of its fleet to EVs by the end of the year.
The tie-up will create simplicity and convenience for drivers by reducing the need for separate transitions for charging and refuelling and offering franchisees a single monthly invoice.
Allstar Homecharge, which is part of the Allstar Chargepass offering, calculates and pays for business-use EV charging directly to the energy provider. This provides a more accurate, controlled and streamlined solution. This helps DPD make the case to its drivers to transition to EVs as the ability to charge at home, rather than the depot, provides a practical solution to drivers.
Drivers also get access to Allstar’s public EV network, which includes more than 14,000 charge points, across more than 4,000 locations, covering slow, fast, rapid and ultra-rapid charging to suit all drivers’ needs.
The move strengthens Allstar’s existing partnership with DPD, with the company now acting as the lead provider for all aspects of DPD’s on-the-road fleet payments for EV and fuel.
DPD has rapidly increased its EV fleet over the last two years, with over 3,600 vehicles now running on electric.
Olly Craughan, head of sustainability at DPD, commented: “The collaboration with Allstar provides another solution for DPD to utilise in its journey towards decarbonising its final-mile delivery fleet. The Allstar Chargepass and Allstar Homecharge solutions encourage our drivers to make the switch to electric due to the simplicity and convenience that charging at home can bring, as well as the option to use Allstar’s roaming public charging network.”
Ashley Tate, managing director of Allstar Chargepass UK, said: “As a company committed to the EV transition in fleets, we’re proud to be extending our partnership with DPD to continue simplifying the transition for drivers. The delivery industry is not only responsible for its own emissions, but also its partners’ net zero strategies, meaning the pressure is on to speed up efforts.
“Our partnership will make electric vehicles more accessible to drivers and serves as a significant milestone in our shared commitment to achieve net zero across fleets.”
