DS Automobiles previews high-flying coupé-SUV with 466-mile range
DS Automobiles has teased a new coupé-SUV that will deliver an extensive WLTP range of 466 miles (750km).
Currently teased in a camouflage wrap branded with ‘750’ in reference to its range, the new flagship model from the French premium brand is expected to assume the DS8 moniker – although at the moment it’s nameless in all official press communications, with the branding blanked out.
What we do know is that the new creation will team up “charismatic styling, aerodynamic lines, avant-garde technology and first-class comfort” to change “the shape of cars in the SUV class”.
The unnamed car has achieved its top-end range through aerodynamic features such as a long wheelbase, repositioned windscreen and lower bonnet, along with active air intakes in the lower part of the front bumper, achieving a drag coefficient of 0.24.
It also features an exterior design that “recaptures the dynamism of the most elegant SUVs, while accommodating the needs of a 100% electric powertrain”.
The “stunning” design uses also includes DS Pixelvision lights surrounded by vertical daytime running lights (DRLs).
It’s believed to be a sister model to the Peugeot E-3008 and the Vauxhall Grandland, and therefore likely to use the same Stellantis STLA Medium platform.
Full details, including the name, of the DS newcomer will be revealed before the end of the year.
